Switching up style

Hey guys,

So this week has been something else, the weather is either too cold or too hot. Which to me is extremely annoying because I don't know wtf to wear! I wanted to look nice so I decided to wear a long skirt with my boots for the first time. I have worn this skirt before during the summer but I was able to transition it into fall. I wanted a contemporary kardashion look so I added the wide belt to highlight my waist. I also wore a leotard so that I wouldn't get annoyed with keeping the top tucked under the skirt. I loved this look I even pinned the skirt up to create a whole new skirt with amazing detail. My sister even thought it was a different skirt. I added the leather jacket for a edgy city look and to bring out the pale pink color from the skirt. Moral of the story is to just get creative with your clothes because you never know what you'll come up with.

It's a #throwback

Hey Ya'll,

So it's time for layers!!!! Fall gives me the opportunity to show off my entire ensemble well if the weather permits it. Just knowing that when I go outside my conture won't melt off my face and my hair won't be a sweaty ass mess is all that I need for a great fashionable  day.
But what to wear? Well you could  go out and buy yourself a whole new wardrobe. Or if you don't have the extra cash then you could go through your closets and drawers for some throwback pieces, put those pieces together and reinvent yourself the perfect fall wardrobe.
How I reinvent my wardrobe takes a little bit of research, creativity and inspiration. I surf through other curvy blogs, magazines, social media sites and online shops. Then I look into my closets and drawers and find those traditional key pieces that can be able to finalize my outfits.
My problem has been letting clothes go. I will hoard till the room bursts with outdated shirts and old sweaters. Always concerned about the chance that, that particular item that I let go the other day wouldn't all of a sudden come back into the limelight. But I'm here to say let it go. If you haven't wore it in over a year let it go. You don't need it so get rid of it. There's no need for the clutter.
This ensemble is a perfect example of reinventing throwback pieces. My plaid tunic came into the scene and in my closet back in 2010 ish. It's been a few years since I wore it until that night. Since 2010 plaids and print in general have been all over my screens and print. Not to mention the length of dresses, tunics and tops have a longer hem line. So this piece has been a reinvented item for my wardrobe. I paired the top with my favorite Forever 21 leggings, classic black leather jacket and black riding boots. Happy recycling!!!

Starting the transition

Hey guys,

So it's becoming that time of the year where the weather changes and forces us to transition our wardrobes. It sucks. But I love to layer and really get into revamping my style. On this particular night it was breezing not cold so this sweater croptop was just enough. I paired it with a pair of athletic black joggers, because it was dead at night and no one noticed. Besides everything was cute and simple. This croptop has the perfect design of white lace over the silvery gray knit. It's also amazingly soft. Transitioning isn't the end of the world, it just leads to so many other outfit ideas. Happy styling!

White after labor day?

Hey guys,
I know that this post is late but it's better than never. The debate is white, do I wear it or nah? Well I'm here to say wear whatever you want. If you wanna wear white you could do so. I so see white outerwear coming back with in a few weeks celebrating the change of weather. Besides it looks so clean and chic to wear white. Have fun with it. I always feel a little bit extra while wearing white. These forever 21 white jeans have been in my closet for some time now. They stretch and are long enough for my 5'11 almost 6ft height. I paired the outfit with a peach/coral colored leotard and gold strap Sandals. So in conclusion forget that rule about after labor day because in fashion there are no rules. Enjoy my angels......

Wearing my favorite Forever 21 leggings a simple white tee and my boyfriends button up tied around my waist I scream comfort and fun. My accessories are my Disney princess Vans and my Arial pin from dumbbows.com
That Sunday was a funday.

Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits..... there just amazing a total outfit in one suit just accessorize and go. My outfits take a while to come up in my head and then fully executing the task takes even longer. I catch myself taking over a hour pulling myself together but that includes hair and makeup if I choose. The fact of the matter is that it takes me forever to get ready and with a jumpsuit it saves me 30 minutes of contemplating madness. This number I ordered from Groupon so I can't really say where it came from. But you should check it out sometime because you never know what you might find.

Date night with Ant Man

Hey Y'all!

Last night was a perfect date night to the movies with my babe. We went to go see Marvels Ant Man which was amazing. It had all the right amounts of action, special effects, Easter eggs, Witt and overall story line. I loved that it was straight forward and not a whole lot of gut wrenching drama. Go watch it!
Now back to the outfit. These are one of my favorite pairs of leggings from Forever 21. They have the right amount of sheer to look fun and sexy. There great for those that are tall and are very comfortable but you should size up if you have hips because there made snug. You could also dress them up or dress them down very easily.
The top was found at H&M and I had to get it because it was just to cute to pass up, especially if the art is of donuts. By the way I love me some donuts. Lol. The top is extremely soft and light for those Summer night breezes. And it draped pretty well for the size.
I'm a size 2X or 3X depending on the cut. But most of the tops from H&M only go up to a size Large or XL but lucky for those that are curvy they are mostly cut wide enough to fit. So always, always try them on before putting it down because you just might be surprised. The sneakers are my Disney princess Vans. And again no makeup.

Comfy and chic

Hey Ya'll!

So these past days the weather has been either sunny or rainy. So I wanted to be as comfy as possible but still lookin right.
So these Forever 21 denim joggers were perfect for the occasion. They fit kind of weird so size up if you can. Also if your tall they will hit just above the ankle. I love the varsity band on them because it makes them look more sporty and casual. Pairing these joggers with a crop top is perfect because the back of the pants might look a little baggy. So pairing with the crop top will help balance your body shape and to me would take away from the little extra baggage you might have with these joggers. Also adding these little white Ked sneakers kept my outfit low key and super cute. I also didn't put on any makeup for these shots so that is the real me.

#rockthecrop

Hey y'all!

So last night I was surprised by a magazine clip from O Magazine about crop tops and asking if you could pull them off.
Now I'm a strong advocate when it comes to crop tops. The majority of my wardrobe consists of crop tops. Not only are there comfortable but they take any outfit to the next level.
I was totally offended by this O Magazine clip not only is it disgraceful but it condones a form of fat shaming that I'm totally against.
Saying that if my stomach was is flat and only flat that I could wear such crop top or that I could put on a longer shirt under it? Is a insult to the vast audience of all sized women that have been loyal to Oprah and her brand.
Anybody can pull off a crop top. It's a shirt, it was made to be worn. Ask me if I have a bikini body. I will answer you hell yes. Everyone has the body to wear what ever the hell they please. I don't need the "OK" from O Magazine or any other magazine for that matter. I shouldn't have to feel shame or disgust with myself for not being "flat" because I'm fab.
The curvy movement is happening one day at a time. We rise and show the world a whole different type of beauty. The beauty that isn't only about clothes and makeup but can be only obtained by self security and overwhelming confidence.
So to those media bullies, you may continue  to ridicule and try to manipulate our feelings by how we look and dress our bodies. But remember  that every time that you try we turn around and surprise you by showing you and anyone else that you can't get to us.  And that is a promise that doesn't need to be repeated.
Post up those crop top tees, hash tag and show the world that fat shaming is wrong by showing the world our confidence as a united community.

Fairytale Summertime

Hey y'all!

I'm so glad you came back to read again, I really do appreciate the loyalty. Just to let everybody know I love me a good fairytale. Fairy tales are my ultimate escape. I love some love, drama, magic and glamour.

In most Disney fairy tale's there's always a Lil drama, love, magic and a whole lot of glamour. There magical because they draw you back to listen to one after the other, over and over again. Fairy tales are the reason that I still dream and carry a pocket full of wishes. So I will always represent as much as I can when it comes to Disney anything.

This outfit was so much fun, the overalls aren't long to the ankle but there not impossible to work with when it gets colder, so I'm looking forward to that.

The t shirt is indeed the sea shell top from The Little Mermaid. It was a special order from Red Bubble.com there amazing when it comes to art and special apparel.

The sneakers are from the new Disney Vans collection there the low top princess edition. There super comfortable and there affordable only $65? Yes please! If you have a wide foot just go a size up.

My sea shell/starfish bangle bracelets are from Forever 21 there were under $4 and my Little Mermaid bunny was handmade by dumb bows.com it was also $4.

This outfit was fun, magical and now one of my favorites.

Prints prints prints!

Hey y'all!

Happy 4th of July weekend! Well if you were me my day didn't start till the late afternoon. Recovering from the  celebrations of last night. So I wanted to be comfortable and chic. These pants from Forever 21 did the trick. The print is pretty detailed and I feel stands out from the huge chunky Aztec prints. There wide fit so they flow when you walk and can be worn high waisted for your crop top needs. There sort of true to size but I wanted a relax fit so I sized up. There also extra long so tall girls your prayers have been answered. If you can totally get them you won't be sorry.

I love prints there everything to me the more different the print the better. So be prepared for more prints throughout future posts.

Happy 4th of July

I wanted to start with wishing everyone a very happy 4th of July! I wish that I had a amazing over the top outfit to show but I was away at work for the majority of the day. So this rushed but very cute outfit was a life savor. I love the fit of these jeans if you get them size down because they stretch to the moon and back. The crop top is extremely soft and it's berry stripes are appropriate for the celebration.
Have a safe and fun 4th,

The Intro

Hello everyone!
I wanted to really introduce myself to all that took the time to check me out, I really appreciate it. This is my first blog and I want it to be amazing.
So let's start with the beginning my name is Shalee Medina, I'm 28 yrs old my birthday is in December and I'm from a really big family.
I love clothes, I love accessories, I love the chance to reinvent myself every time I get ready for my day. But it wasn't always like that. I hated anything that was pink, girly, and skin tight. I barely combed my hair and I dressed like a boy just sweatpants and boots. This phase was from my early teens to my freshmen year of high school.
Now High school was a something else, all of the girls were made up and dressed up about 80% of the time. And with me in a big family the finances had to be prioritized so there wasn't a new wardrobe every season or a new pair of sneakers every year.  So I didn't have much to go with but that's when I took the opportunity to work and than earn all of my belongings. Which in fact is pretty rewarding.
My style was awkward in the beginning. Just figuring out what size I was, was a challenge.  Trying out size after size for hours would be a total inconvenience so I learned about body types from anywhere I could magazines,  instagram,  curvy sites etc. Learning about styles, patterns, colors, matching, layering, dressing up and dressing down was a huge help. Dressing in a certain size has taught me patience.  You really need patience when it comes to curves because not all curves are the same.
I had to evolve with being comfortable in my own skin. Being curvy in a predominantly skinny world was hard for me.  Gaining insecurities because I wasn't in the trends or my fit was off so the clothes looked weird held me back. The blame wasn't the other girls, the covers of magazines, the girls in the videos or the girls on those popular shows...... it was me.
I made myself feel like I wasn't good enough because I thought that, that was how I was suppose to feel.  Like there wasn't a curvy revolution or curvy movement back in my teens. There wasn't any inspiration when it came to women my size and shape.  I wasn't  suppose to feel comfortable in my skin because the negativity was suppose to be my "motivation" for future weight loss.
I had to learn myself that the "motivation" that I needed was to learn how to love myself.  So I had to find my own kind of inspiration.  Throughout the years into my adulthood I've learned that if you feel good then you'll look good. I'm still learning about myself and I'm still falling in love with my curves and being more bold  with how I present my personality and style through my wardrobe. Taking risks with my style and hair has given me a identity and a chance to hopefully be a inspiration to someone else.
I'm totally excited about this journey and I'm ready to show the world what I got.
Looking forward to the glam,

Just the beginning

This is the photo that started it all. My first crop top moment, it was thrilling and ment everything to me. Getting the top over my head was the easy part. The hard part was recognizing myself in a crop top. Having to let go of the insecurities and the what if's and just wear the damn clothes.
The crop top opened my creativity to how I style my outfits. Now most of my outfits involve a crop top. And the breeze on a hot summers day is a totally refreshing and freeing.
Most of my crop tops come from H&M and Forever 21. There really affordable and the styles are just about endless.
Throughout the summer is going to be a adventure and I'm honored that you all will be joining me.
